Effective today, Walker-Virginia Federal Credit Union (WVFCU) has officially merged into DuPont Community Credit Union. The merger has been approved by Federal and State credit union regulators and in March, the members of WVFCU voted to approve the merger. This decision comes after safety and security changes at the Walker-Tenneco plant, which housed WVFCU’s only branch location, would have required WVFCU to relocate its office off site. “After learning that we needed to move our credit union operations, WVFCU Board of Directors determined that it would not be in the best interest of the credit union to take on the relocation expense,” says Jimmy Garber, WVFCU manager for 40 years. “We found DuPont Community Credit Union to be the best fit for our members.

...  Walker-Virginia Federal Credit Union opened in 1965 and was located in Harrisonburg, VA and was a financially sound credit union with approximately 439 members and $1.7 million in assets.
