Getting Locked Out Of Dime Savings Bank

   I got a notice on my savings acct saying that I could not pay any bills unless I provided an Funding Account verification . I called and they said that  I had not made any physical transactions at a B/M location and the acct had been frozen. I have not checked the T/C but the Rep said that if that transaction had been made within a Three yr period the accts are frozen because the have been Dormant.

   Even with making transfers IN from an outside acct and paying bills does not count.

To get the acct Unfrozen you have to submit a letter to them. It Has be a written ??  Signed letter asking for the freeze to be lifted. Must have last 4 or acct # in the letter.

They told me it had to be faxed or scanned and attached to an Email .

They said 3yr thing is in the T/C or  Fee list.

That is all the info I can provide. As Always YMMV

Thanks for letting us know of this issue. That's a problematic dormancy policy when inbound ACH transfers and bill payments don't count as activity.

Thanks for this;I live in Bayport, Long Island where Dime has branches on LI.  Years ago, I looked into moving the IRA my late Dad had left me to them.  First they said I needed to get a new Soc. Sec. card for him as I didn't have it.  Later another rep. said I didn't have to.  At the time, there was no internet banking available so everything had to be done in person at a bank.  I think the closest was in E. Meadow, Nassau County.  That's a long drive; I pictured showing up, not having some form and having to drive back there again.  Sometimes a great rate is too good to be true; I wrote them off permanently.

I"m getting a little POed right now. Its been 5 days. Don't care if it includes the weekend.
They promised active today, Customer service support has their head up their YMMV.
If not up by Noon tomorrow will look for HQ number.
