Had a 5 year 3.04% IRA at Digital CU that matured 10 days ago and scrambled to replace it. I used the weekly CD Summary to look for a replacement and much to my dismay couldn't find much. Then, my eye caught the IRA CD heading at the top of the Blog page. Great surprise to find  the Andrews 3% rate with easy membership through American Consumer Council. Ken, I think this CD should be listed on the weekly summary. I see the Navy FCU 2% 20 month listed there.

After a certain point in life, chasing rates gets tiring. I've decided to stick with financial institutions I know and trust. Alliant Credit Union has reasonably competitive rates, and (I must say) they have never screwed up my accounts. If all else fails, Alliant actually has a "brick and mortar" branch within driving distance, at the Kaiser Center in Oakland. I've had many CDs in many places over the years, but I'm getting too old to chase a few basis points here and there.

I'm more interested in "return of capital" than "return on capital" these days in fixed-income.

Telling everyone on this site that you are no longer chasing rates is like an atheist going to church. It's just not done! We forgive you this one lapse in judgement, just don't let it happen again.

Lou, my doctor put me on blood pressure pills last month. He advised against undue anxiety. As I told my wife, a nice, safe, 2% is about as good as it gets these days in fixed-income. I mean, I'm 68, pushing 69. The angst is not worth the battle, as it were.

Alliant has a nice, cushy, renewal option for the IRA CD I have renewing in June. I just carve into four slices, roll each into the five-year CD at 2.2%, and EWPs are waived on my RMDs. No muss, no fuss.

I just retired last year and my new hobby is rate chasing.   Working was less aggravating than opening new accounts (and considerably more lucrative).  Of course, this is mostly due to the "Patriot Act" stupidity.

PS

If you want to avoid "undue anxiety", don't go to your doctor!

Alliant recently dropped its jumbo 5-yr.rate to 2.05%.
