For those interested:
One of the few good things about NavyFed is their credit card offerings. If you want a cash back card without all the gimmicks of catagories, they offer a straight 1.5% back on everything charged -- AND the cash back is available as soon as the charge comes in (2-3 days after purchase). Plus, if you don't want to put it back to your card, you can easily put the cash into your savings account. A very good card with some decent benefits, no yearly fees, and no foreign transaction fees, it's a great card, especially if you pay off your balance each month. Wish the rest of NavyFed was a good as their cards.
Well, up to now it's been available only as a Visa. But starting Oct 23rd, NavyFed will offer their 1.5% Cash Rewards card as a MasterCard as well (World MasterCard if your credit limit is over $5000).
Even from the same bank/credit union, generally Visa offers better benefits than MasterCard does (ie, 30 days CDW for international car rental vs 21 days for MasterCard, etc). But for those who travel a lot outside of the US, you know that even though Visa & MC are supposed to be similarly accepted, there are plenty of times where an American Visa won't work but an American MasterCard will (foreign kiosks, auto-pay gas stations overseas, etc). So I always have a MasterCard as a backup for the times when a foreign system won't work with an American Visa card (but the MasterCard will always work).
Anyway, for those interested, NavyFed will be offering a CashRewards MasterCard later this month, in addition to the CashRewards Visa card they currently offer.
