What's Going On Today (11/25) At Syncrony?

I receive 2 emails this morning allegedly from Syncrony that "2 micro deposits have been received". Odd because I did not initiate any transaction. This afternoon I received another email with subject "Action Required" but there was no content.

I could log into my account but received an error message when clicking transaction history. I tried calling 866) 226-5638 but received a "your call cannot be completed as dialed" response.

What in the world is going on? Has the bank had a massive security breach or IT failure? Has anyone else experienced this as well?

I received three emails today supposedly from Synchrony.

One was time stamped 11:26 am with the subject "A Trial Deposit Has Been Successfully Made to Your" but had no content other than some notes.

A second email was also time stamped 11:26 am with the subject "A Trial Deposit Has Been Successfully Made to Your AMAZON CREDITBUILDER" with no content and a similar note.

The third email was time stamped 11:34 am with the subject "Action required on your application" and had no content.

I have no recent account with Synchrony so I'm ignoring the emails.

RZ -- This is just another standard Synchrony screw-up. According to Synchrony:

ALERT: We apologize for any confusion an unplanned email from Synchrony may have caused today. No action needs to be taken at this time.

I received the same 3 emails and have had trouble seeing my account information all day.

I only received the 2 micro deposit emails.

The messages came in to an email address that I've never used as part of my personal banking with Synchrony, but to an old version of my work email address that I did once use for my Walmart credit card. Those Walmart accounts recently changed over from Synchrony to Capital One.

I'm curious to know if anyone else found that the only explanation for Synchrony having your email address was through the Walmart card that they once serviced.

I'd be concerned if any unauthorized trial deposits were showing up in my account which is typical when an external account is being linked.

Noticed this morning the following message on the Synchrony site:

"Synchrony distributed a notification via email or text message in error to some consumers. The email did not include any customer data or personal information. We are currently investigating the root cause.

We apologize for any confusion; you do not need to take any action at this time."
