I always check with a few "down detector" websites when I can't access one of my financial/banking websites to see if it is problem others are having as well. A couple times when I seem to be the only one with the issue, it has been a matter of clearing cache, cookies, and browsing history. Sounds like in your case is was a widespread issue.
