TD Ameritrade must be skimming before they hand over accounts to Schwab. Bank of Hope, CA non callable 15 month brokered cd with maturity of 7/1/24 coupon is offered at 5.45% on TD Ameritrade. Q is 24,455.

Bank of Hope uninverts the yield curve with their offerings.

Don't see that City National 5 year on TD Ameritrade. Is that Florida?

Had to look that up on Fidelity Guest Access it's not on Schwab either. Ouch, good rate but the bank looks like the ones that have been failing recently. I wouldn't want my money there.

Thanks, Sams. I see it on Fidelity, but currently not on Schwab either. I got myself some - but being careful these days - it is a Regional CA bank and some of their stats on DA do not look that good (at least as of Q2, 2022). With this rate for 5 years, currently, I am sure they are trying to cover their deposit hole. Staying under the FDIC limit. :) They seem to be going fast, obviously...

Yes only picking up $50k. Not taking any chances here. Seems too good to be true right now.

At 7:45 PM ET tonight, the City National Bank, 5-year @ 5.00%, new issue, non-callable, brokered CD offered at Fidelity experienced a chemical reaction and was transformed into a rare element recently identified by scientists as unobtainium.

Random question just out of curiosity - if you have a brokered CD and want to sell it on the secondary market, do you have to sell the entire CD or can you sell a portion ?

Yes, but you might not get as good a price if you're selling a small amount.

lou, just curious, in your experience generally speaking what would you consider a "small amount" that would result in poor liquidity/wide spreads on the secondary CD market?

i agree. can sell any portion of brokered CD, in the same 1K increments as purchased, on secondary market. my observation has been that small lots 10K are the ones most likely to have wider yield spreads

City national is a good bank going back many years in California. When the actors needed money and other banks refused. Cnb stepped in. Now they have huge support from Hollywood scene. I have no problems owning there cds

At TD Ameritrade, I think Celtic pulled them because no one was buying. City had 2000 Q remaining at 4 pm
