It's darn near "that time of year" once again!
Most taxpayers are already aware, with 15th of April this year falling on a Saturday, that our deadline to file our taxes, and/or pay whatever we owe, moves to the next business day. This year that would be Monday, 17th of April.
However:
Fewer taxpayers are aware that, in the District of Columbia, Sunday 16th of April is Emancipation Day. For those with interest:

Thing is, when Emancipation Day falls on a Sunday, it is celebrated the following Monday, which this year is April 17th. And because the IRS is headquartered in Washington, DC, they celebrate as well. And in fact the entire country joins in, this year, because Emancipation Day places April 17th off limits as our tax filing deadline. The 2023 Federal tax filing deadline this year is Tuesday, April 18th.
But what about the individual states?:
The truth is there are too many and I dunno the rules in each state. Certainly in many cases you will at least have until Monday 17th of April to file your state taxes. But if your state celebrates Emancipation Day, unlikely since it's really a DC holiday, you might get an extra day.
