sams I cant add to the list as they got bought but you are correct it can add a nice bonus to the bottom line. Back in the 1990's-2000's Community Credit Union here in Texas would have a member giveback every December. I had several CD's and a checking and money market account with them (always had good rates) and right around mid-December they would put the bonus in my share savings and it was a nice little Christmas gift. Unfortunately they got bought out and merged into a Bank who I hated and closed my accounts but for several years the bonus was nice!

Never had a CU credit me with an end of year bonus. I have dealt and still do business with many.

sams1985, thank you for compiling this list. With the 42 credit unions you discovered and the 2 which enduser found, we have currently identified 44 credit unions that provide year-end bonuses. If we do not locate many more, it appears that only about 1% of the 4,645 credit unions provide year-end bonuses. (I utilized the number 4,645 which is listed in this NCUA document: https://ncua.gov/files/publications/analysis/quarterly-data-summary-2023-Q3.pdf )

Eastman Credit Union is paying 16 million this year. The dividend is based on the combination of dividends earned on deposits and interest paid on loans the prior calendar year (2023). ECU has been doing this since 1998 and has returned 193 million dollars back to members just for banking with them.

Founders FCU has paid a total for 2023...  $30 million back to select members. Their rates are/have not been sub-par, in fact at the moment they are offering a 3 yr. CD @ 5.61% APY. My personal payout for both loyalty bonuses amounted to more than $7,000 for 2023. So yes, having a relationship with a CU that pays a year end bonus to members can be a very nice year end benefit. Sams1985, nice idea listing CU's with a year end payout, you are surely focused on good ideas that may help others!
