Advancial's Application Is Broken

I spent 4 hours getting the runaround at advancial (their service department, various branhes, back and forth, online). Finally one representative told me they were supposed to fix a bug over xmas, and she was familiar with the upload bug when it asks for a copy of the back of your driver's license. 4 frustrating hours is too much. I would have appreciated it if any of the multiple representatives had told me earlier about the software problem. Hopefully the last rep will find a workaround and call me monday.

Email their customer service at the address listed on the Advancial website and ask to have the application forms emailed to you. You will receive fillable pdf forms that you can email back with attached copies of the front and back of your license. Be warned however, it may take a couple of weeks to process your application. If 4 hours is too long, the whole process might prove more than you are willing to dedicate time to. However, once you have your welcome packet you can set up online banking, deposit a check at a shared branch, drive home and immediately open a CD with the just deposited funds via online banking.

Also this is an ira so I will need to fuss with a trustee to trustee transaction. I think I will open the savings anyway, just in case some miracle happens. Thanks for the timing perspective. I will follow through.

It's a sorry statement about Advancial. That problem has been going on for several months, and they keep saying they are working on it, should be fixed soon. Clearly, they are not working on it. There is another Advancial thread here and a lot of talk inther about this very problem.

I note another issue I ran into when wanting to join and get into their 5-year CD. I wnated to list my living trust as beneficiary. I know from experience over the years, ask the questions several times to various CSRs. I did about listing my living trust as beneficiary, they all assured me no problem, I can do that, not an issue.

So I proceeded, jumped through all the boops, waited and waited for them to process, and waited more (it took several days or more), and finally the call came in. All was processed, I passed all the checks, they were ready to open it -- except. Except I listed my living trust as beneficiary. They can't add a living trust on as beneficiary, they can list only an actual person. Oh, for god's sake. I complained and told about getting assurances from everyone. I told them if I can't list my living trust as beneficiary, then I can't do any business with them. Nothing mattered, it had to be a person, can't be a trust, as I do everywhere else. It should make no difference to them, but they block it. Heck, they aren't even the ones to deal with it, it would be the NCUA dealing with it.

So, I moved on, they lost what would have been a large CD, I can't do any business with them, even after getting past that upload issue.

Lesson: Be careful about Advancial, there are issues and midguidance that could create trouble for you and get you the run arond. And the delay in processing is inexcusable, you can even lose the rate during that delay.

I applied today. no hiccups so far. no problems with back of license.
Question: Do they process this application on line or do I have to send them something snail mail?

If the online application went through with no hiccups, my experience is you should get something within 24 hours saying it was approved, and directions on how to open up your account online. Nothing needs to be done with snail mail.

If you do not hear something in 48 hours, I would call their customer service number to see where they are at. I have had good customer service luck with them. Good luck. Did you use dog agility to get membership? If so then you will need to talk to the Dallas branch, as they are the ones that process those accounts IMO.

Hello everyone. I recently applied for membership with Advancial and opened a CD account this month of January 2024.

1. I also had difficulty uploading my drivers license for several hours. So I decided to call 1-800 customer service number and the very kind and helpful CSR will direct you to the appropriate branch location . Mention to the branch representative that you are having issues uploading your drivers license ID, then they will offer you options on how to resolve this problem via email route.

2. The approval process for me was about 1 to 2 days after application processing and photo ID email route after I spoke to someone at the branch location. If you apply online , you can also call customer service to check on the status of your application too . I was surprised it was quite simple afterwards.

3. After you are approved for membership, the branch location sent me via email general information for funding and opening a CD account , etc. you can open your CD online, it’s quite simple process.

4. For me, the wiring method was the quickest and easiest way to transfer money to my Advancial account . I initiated the wire fund from my external bank in the morning and the money was successfully transferred at the end of the same business day. Once the money is in your Advancial savings or checking account, you can easily open your CD account online within a few minutes .

5. There is also a section on your banking page where you can view your beneficiary information too.

6. I hope this information is helpful .

For an ira there is an additional application. To complete which must then be snail mailed in with a ‘wet’ real pen signature. On it you can have beneficiaries and contingent beneficiaries

Well I should have used fedex overnight which would have been faster than us post office overnight.

But now I learned that Advancial will not accept wires for an ira. You have to mail them a cashier’s check from the financial institution to them. My Advancial ira is not yet established even so I might not proceed due to the lateness combined with a 6k early withdrawal fee combined with Advancial rate changes Feb 1 . If I do not use the Advancial ira by mid February Advancial closes the IRA account. They do have nice people working very hard.

1. I applied at the beginning of the month in January during the first week and everything was processed online and via email route too in a few days ( no snail mail or traditional mailing ).

Great, it does not work that way for trustee to trustee IRA accounts. The next thing I learned (see my posts above), is that the branch I work at does not have a mail slot. So mail cannot be delivered before their business hours open the branch, nor after their business hours close the branch. That makes mailing the forms and then the cashier's checks a chancy thing , especially if you are under a deadline, trying to obtain a special time limited cd. Again, very very nice people.
