Two noteworthy CD Specials:

APYs as of 5/20/2024:

9-month CD: 5.50%

30-month CD: 5.00%

Note, you can get up to 5.75% APY on the 9-month, but that requires some hoops. See https://www.vibrantcreditunion.org/personal/cds

Per Ken's last Vibrant blog post, it's an easy membership requirement CU:

Thanks for the info. 30 mo used to be the "sweet spot" for me term-wise. Good to see a 5% for that term.

FYI: for those wanting 5% for a bit longer, Dollar Savings Direct still has their 36 mo CD @ 5%.

I called Dollar several days ago, and was told two surprising, unpleasant things:
1. You can only have 1 beneficiary. I'm not sure if that's per account (i.e., if you had 2 cds you could name one to each - but you'd have to put up with the hassle of multiple unnecessary accounts; and 2. They don't 'do' wires - ACH is the only way to fund the account. But the limits on ach transfers is Dollar Savings' limit, not the limit that the funds are being drawn from. I don't quite remember whether you could only do an ACH from Dollar's end, but I think that's what I was told.
These provision seem egregious. Maybe it was an uninformed CSR that I got who misinformed me. But if not, this is not good news.

In this post from a month ago I explain some of the quirks with Dollar Savings, and their 5% 36 mo CD...

I opened a new Dollar Savings account the other day. The process was pretty seamless and it took 2 days to open. I opened 2 CDs for 36 months @ 5% APY with a 180 day EWP. You can only assign one beneficiary per opened CD.

Terrible customer service. I think they are not really interested in business beyond their geographic area. They were supposed to call me back; did not.
