Skyone, a small 2-branch credit union here in SoCal that is for the airline/aerospace industry but anyone can join, is apparently about to open their first out of state branch in Lewisville Texas. They are a small local credit union, I dont know why they are opening a branch in texas, but they had a 5% cd special a while back that had a rate bump, one deposit and allowed a withdrawal of up to half without penalty. They sometimes also are on raisin apparently but I don't use raisin. They are more of a low key local credit union but for folks in Texas there will be one there soon.

their rates are not high right now but they generally allow you to ask for one rate bump on cds over 2 years if rates go up

Chances are, the union is catering to those former California residents who got fed up with confiscatory CA taxes and the Marxist culture and living expenses that enable such culture of distruction and moved out of California to Texas. I would expect similar moves by other FIs and not only in TX.
