My Last Day At Lendingtree - Thanks For Your Support Over The Years!

While I enjoyed my time at LendingTree over the last seven years, I feel that it’s time for me to move on. Today, August 2, 2024, is my last day at LendingTree.

I’m very grateful for your support of me, DepositAccounts and the BankDeals blog over a period of almost 19 years. Thanks to all who have shared their banking experiences in comments and in emails. I’ve learned a lot, and I am grateful for your friendship.

I want to thank my team at LendingTree who continues to work hard to maintain and improve DepositAccounts. LendingTree remains dedicated to keeping DepositAccounts as a great resource on deposit rates. Please give them your support. If you experience any site issues, please let the DepositAccounts team know by pressing the “Contact Us” button in the About page at https://www.depositaccounts.com/about/.

I would like to especially thank my assistant, Carolyn H., who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the last ten years helping me research and write the daily deal posts and weekly summaries.

Thank you, valued readers, for everything. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.

Warm regards,

Ken Tumin

A shame to see you go, but I hope to see you out there again -- soon. It has been nice all these years to see your high-grade journalism, and self-taught at that. The information you provided was invaluable to everyone here. The timeliness was exemplary. The thoroughness of all you built DA to be was amazing. Oh, we got nearly noting during more thatn a decade after the 2008 crash, but thanks to you, I figured I got about 1% more than I would have without you. Without you, I'm afraid we will lose that 1% extra.

Good luck to you. You deserve it. And so does Carolyn, who contributed so much from the shadows.

I think I discovered your site sometime in 2017, and have done very well, very well indeed thanks to your information, advice, and biweekly summaries, as well as from the others who post here.

Sorry to see you go, but best wishes, and best of good buys.

Regards,
Milty

Thank you Ken for all you have done.
Really hate to see you go.
Not the same since you sold it to LendingTree.
Hope they will continue to improve.
Will keep coming back and check it out.
Wish you the best.

Sorry to see you go Ken it must be a bittersweet day but wish you nothing but the best in life. You have provided a great service building a tremendous site/niche from scratch and helped out so many, myself included in the process. You will be missed and will continue to follow you over on Twitter. All the best…

I’ve been a sometimes critic, but Deposit Accounts has been (with emphasis on the past tense) an invaluable resource for me over many, many years. Thanks and best wishes.

Ken,
Thank you for starting, and diligently maintaining this site for so many years. You, along with those who helped you run the site, have helped so many people. It's hard to even imagine how much better off we all are, having had DA as a resource for so many years. Heck, back in the day I even used to travel out of state on mini-vacations to get special deals mentioned on DA if it was worth it.

As you step away to go onto other things, I hope you take a moment to rightly be proud of what you created and accomplished. There aren't many with the dedication you've shown over the years -- even more amazing when you consider that this blog was originally a hobby and side gig for you, a far cry from being an engineer in the semiconductor industry.

I don't know if you will keep reporting on deposit accounts elsewhere or not, what your terms with Lending Tree might stipulate (as far as non-compete) or if you want to focus your energies in an entirely new direction... but whatever you decide to do, enjoy it -- you certainly deserve it.

In whatever direction you want to turn your focus and passion to now, both professionally and personally, I wish you all the best with heartfelt, sincere thanks!

Thank you!

Ken, your site has been SUPER . Over the years, I have locked in high rate CDs all because of YOUR site - CD rates from banks or CUs I had no idea of. Now, the site is not too useful. We look forward to reading your new post at your new site...if you ever start anew.

Let's rename LendingTree to EndingTree since Ken is ending his relationship with them. And if the split is causing great sadness or distress to Ken or anyone, let's rename it HeartrendingTree.

As Ken's life evolves into his contrary phase, I look forward to Ken's new endeavor as he partners with BorrowingTree.

Ken, I wish your future is filled with endless happiness and success.

While I've been a long-time reader, I've only started commenting in the Forum recently. Thanks to Ken (and the unsung Carolyn), I was able to take advantage of CDs with high rates at a couple of Michigan credit unions I didn't even know existed.

Without you, Ken, there is no DA, but I will be forever grateful for all I've learned from you and this wonderful website. Lending Tree has proved in the last few months that they have no vision and no understanding of what they have wrecked.

Best wishes and a thousand thanks for all your work.

KEN TUMIN we will always REMEMBER you for EVER for what you have done for us.

TO LENDING TREE top management. Hope you listen to our comments. We ask you to make a BOX with Columns to display all CD RATES eg 6 months. Make the font larger and darker. Right now it is very much confusing. Once separated and put all info in a Box & Columns mode things will be much clearer. You have to think from the USER's side. This will make you a BIG Success.THANKS.

Inscrutable, Choice. Could someone call the translator?

@gregk I wish I had not dropped out of school, for then I would be smart enough to know what the word inscrutable means, and then I would also have a reply that is impossible to understand or interpret :)

Here's a little known fact I just made up: My cousin Dale has a store that caters to vampire hunters. Stakeholders is his best-selling product. I was skeptical he'd be successful when Dale told me he was opening up a store that just caters to vampire hunters, but he said he couldn't wait to sink his teeth into it.

"Inscrutable" is a table with flush screws.

Yeah, I heard about your cousin Dale's shop from his partner, Chip. The shop's name is Fangri-La. But... a vampire shop in this day and age? I hope he doesn't end up in the red...

I could have chosen “incomprehensible”, - but that might have been equally incomprehensible to you, hehe.

was trying to find a link to share several CD rates that I do not see posted in the CD area and came across your post Ken. I was wondering why it doesn't look like things are being updated. Lots of CD rates are incorrect. Now I know why. I hope Lending Tree hires someone to continue your legacy. You will be missed. (But the money you got for the buy out is very rewarding for you...Enjoy!)

Sorry to see you go. Since your departure, the website has become useless...."Best Rates" are inaccurate/non-current. What used to be a useful tool is now a waste of time.

When TIPS first went negative back in 2011, I started looking for other ultraconservative places to stash my retirement funds. This website popped-up on an internet search. Once the TIPS yields became positive again in 2022, they became more attractive again.

The site was quite useful during those 10 years. That was back in the days of rational commentors like ChasR and Bozo. Heck, even Deplorable 1 used to provide some relevant commentary.

Then around 2020, the political hacks ruined the comments section. It got so bad that the only thing that was worth bothering reading was Ken's summaries.

Now that's even gone. From what I can see, the rates section is still being updated in a timely manner. So, this site will still be of some value for that alone.

Good luck to you Mr. Tumin for a job well done.
