As of 7:30 pm ET 11/14/2024, when comparing Vanguard’s highest posted secondary market Treasury annualized yields to Vanguard’s highest posted non-callable, new-issue brokered CD annualized yields, the secondary market Treasuries generally provide higher annualized yields than the equivalent term non-callable, new-issue brokered CDs. Both provide similar annualized yields for 7 to 9 month terms, but for higher durations, such as the 5-year, the Treasury has a 29 basis point advantage, and for the 7-year, the Treasury has a 39 basis point advantage. In addition, interest from Treasuries is exempt from state and local income taxes.
