I have had accounts with San Antonio Credit Union for years (new name is CREDIT HUMAN).
They just now lowered their IRA rates a bit, but still competitive .... above 4%.
I had a ROTH CD mature and it went to ROTH money market per my previous instructions. When I call to open up a new CD, I was told I could not do it over the phone. HAS to be in writing, with a real pen to paper signature, then you can scan it for email, or fax it. This means you can be a week or better waiting to get it posted.
FYI - I asked CH to back date mine to the original date requested. They had made an error in that they did not provide correct instructions when I did the first email request. To their credit, they did back date (seems they will match the date of the request, even though they may take several days to get it open).
GOOD for you CH. I'm impressed.
Point of this post is two fold .... 1) be aware of their procedures to open IRA products, even if you already have the cash there. 2) Make sure your request asks to have the CD back dated to your request date. Keeps you from losing the interest, AND it will allow you get the rate in effect the day of the request.
