More Concerns About Other Writers Contributing To The Site

Ken, are you watching the comments in the recent articles of your latest weekend writer Ms. Nash?

These articles are worse than the previous author.

What's deal with the new author?  These articles aren't worthy of publication in the local "Weekend Shopper".  And they clearly don't belong on this site.  Read the comments and judge for yourself.  (And no, I didn't write any of them.)

I'm sure Ken knows what he is doing. The article in question, was probably not added to the blog by the author, Sheryl Nance-Nash. Not knowing for sure, but Ken probably decided it was a pertinent discussion item in regard to people's finances. It's just an alternative to deposit accounts. Have you looked at all the posts regarding other alternatives to CDs, savings accounts, etc.? Or, do you prefer future postings by Ken on the blog should be run through a committee? I think not.

"Sheryl Nance-Nash is a freelance writer specializing in personal finance, small business and general business. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Money, DailyFinance.com, More.com, Newsday, Crain's New York Business, thefastertimes.com, and many others."

I suspect many folks don't even know what a SPIA is, much less how it might (or might not) be appropriate as a retirement vehicle. For that reason alone, these types of articles serve a purpose. It's no secret that many folks are "sold" annuities which are wholly inappropriate for their financial situation. On the other hand, low-cost SPIAs which externalize the risk of out-living one's savings might be very valuable. Annuities are viewed by many as just another fixed-income product with a mortality bet thrown in. The subject is totally appropriate for Ken's blog.
