$100 Checking Account Bonus at Chase


Chase is offering a $100 bonus for opening a Chase Free Checking account with direct deposit. Here's the promo link. You have to give Chase your email address and they will send you a coupon in which you have to print and take with you to a local Chase branch.

Some of the important details include: A $100 minimum opening deposit of new money is required. The cash bonus will be automatically deposited into your new account with 10 business days of account opening. There's a limit of one personal checking account-related award per customer per calendar year. The bonus will be considered as interest and will be reported on IRS form 1099-INT. The offer ends December 31, 2006.

Some more important info about the free checking account is available at Chase. Without direct deposit, there's a $6/month fee. There's a $1.50 fee for using non-Chase ATMs.

Chase has been reported to do hard credit pulls. Refer to this FW thread for more info on this. Also, it has been reported on this FW thread that ACH deposits may be counted as direct deposit at Chase.

about the $100.00 bonus cupons that were sent out in the mail.. if you lose it, it is not the responsibilty of the bank (chase), to look for a replacment cupon-code on their own web-site,, now, this happened to me, and by the third wk. of december, i found out through my friend about the web-site.. he found it on his laptop, and got me my replacment cupon code. with the new code, i called chase bank to give the code, and finally begin my bonus process. i didn't know that a replacement code for the cupon was available. the bank told me i was out of luck without the cupon, and they were unable to get a replacement on internet.. now that i had found out the opposite, they are willing to give me my bonus on my new acct. but it took me having to find out through my own intiative, without their help or even a suggestion. so now it is december 23rd, and i am into my 3rd buisness day out of the 10 i have to wait to see if it goes through and into my acct. and the bonus deal ends on 12/31st/06. and my 10 day waiting period will run into jan.07.. i am frustrated, and after going thru all i have to open this acct. i expect them to give me the promised bonus.. but i am unhappy with the service and effort that was not put forth by the bank managers to get the replacement code, that i didn't even know existed! only to find out thru my friend who was trying to help me find an option to recieve the bonus on my new acct. just want others to know what time was wasted because it's not their-job to search their-own web-site to help a new customer.. it makes no-sense!!!

Thanks for the info. Sorry to read about the problems you had. Seems like these internet promo pages are often not known by most of the bank staff. I'm not sure why it's like that.

Credit cards' popularity astounds me. If all people understand how much they will pay for using a credit card they might as well decided not to use one at all. At the same time there is a furious competition between banks that are on the job to get new customers.
