$125 Checking Account Bonus at WesBanco (and possibly $200)
May 17, 2007 - 8:02 AM by Ken Tumin
WesBanco Bank is offering bonuses that can total up to $200 for signing up for a checking account and other related checking activities. The first $75 of the bonus should be very easy: $50 for signing up (minimum deposit of $50) and $25 for signing up for E-statements. The next $50 takes a little more work: $25 for choosing Direct Deposit (of at least $50 credited within first 90 days) and $25 for the first 10 debit card purchases (must be made within 90 days). The last $75 may be difficult for many people: $50 for referring a friend and $25 for signing up for auto pay on a new loan.
It appears that any of their checking accounts can qualify for this bonus. They do offer some free checking accounts with no minimum balance requirements or monthly fees. These are much better deals than the Interest Checking Account which requires a $1,000 balance to avoid a $10 monthly fee.
Branches are located in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. WesBanco is FDIC insured (FDIC Certificate # 803).

I didn't see any account application on the website. Any information on whether an account can be opened by phone or mail, or is this strictly a B&M deal?
Keep up the good work, Banking Guy!

My guess is it's branch only. I've sent them a message through their mail system. I'll report back when they respond.

It is in branch only. No starter check, debit card must be activated on their own ATM.

You can activate your debit card from your home phone now and set up your own PIN.
