Signal Financial FCU has some new promotional certificate rates for the 12 and 24 month terms. The 24-month term has a yield of 5.50% APY and the 12-month term has a yield 5.39% APY. These are down from my last reort in April, but they're still competitive. The 24-month term has a minimum deposit of $5,000, and the 12-month term has a minimum of $2,500. These require money new to the credit union.
The credit union also has some competitive rates on its 72-month CDs. The share certificate yield is 5.60% APY and the IRA certificate yield is 5.81% APY.
Field of membership includes those who live, work, worship or attend school in Washington DC or inside the Beltway in Prince George's County, Maryland. You can also be eligible via family and select employer groups. See site for details. Membership requires a $5 deposit into the main savings account.
This credit union just recently changed its name from Washington Telephone FCU to Signal Financial FCU. Branches are located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 5571). It has $243.5 million in assets and 33,938 members.
