National City Bank Extends the 4.50% 48-Month CD Special

Update 2/23/08: The expiration date seems to have been extended once more, at least in Florida. The small print now states that the offer is available through 03/08/08.

National City Bank has extended its special 48-month CD offer for another week. When I posted on it last week, it was scheduled to end on the 17th. The new scheduled end-date is 2/23/08.

The minimum deposit is $10,000, and you can apply by phone (800-622-4036). The special CD is also available as an IRA or rollover IRA CD. A money market account or checking account is required for this promotion.

As I mentioned in the previous post, it's not available in all states, but just in states with National City branches (FL, IN, IL, KY, MI, MO, OH and PA).

For more details about this CD and National City, please refer to this previous post.

Other CD Deals

The 4.50% yield may not sound that great, but after the recent Fed rate cuts (and the new ones that are anticipated), it's very competitive. As a comparison, the top 4-year CD yield at Bankrate is 4.10% APY at Eastern Savings Bank. Higher yields are available at a few credit unions like Air Academy FCU and Pentagon FCU.
