$50 Checking Account Bonus without DD at TCF Bank

A $50 bonus isn't that much these days, but when it's quick and easy, it can be worth mentioning. TCF Bank is offering this kind of bonus in which you can get a $50 gas card just for opening a new TCF Free Checking Account. This doesn't seem to be listed at the bank's website. It was advertised in today's Denver Post. The ad is available online here. According to the ad, you'll get a $50 gas card on the spot, and the small print states that the "gas card will be awarded at time of account opening." Some of the other important small print includes:

• limited time offer, while supplies last
• available to individuals and small businesses without a TCF Checking account in the past 90 days
• customer is responsible for all applicable taxes

The Totally Free Checking has no monthly service charges, no minimum balance requirements and online bill pay is free.

TCF Bank often has new-checking bonuses. The last one I reported on was in March and offered a $100 bonus, but it required direct deposit and some other activity. This promotion had been extended but has just expired.

This $50 promotion appears to require a branch visit. Branches are located in Colorado, Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona. I've only seen this promotion advertised in Colorado, so it may not be available in those other states. So be sure to call before visiting the branch. The bank is FDIC insured (Certificate # 28330).
