$100 Checking Account Bonus at GreenBank

POSTED ON BY

GreenBank is offering a $100 Visa Gift card for opening a checking account and having two direct deposits of at least $100 within 60 days of account opening. Refer to the bank's registration page for the full instructions and details. It appears that all of their checking accounts qualify including their free checking account.

According to the instructions, you can apply at one their branches or by using their online application. A reader commented that he was able to apply online even though he lives out-of-state. So it appears to be a nationwide deal.

The bank has branches throughout Tennessee including the cities of Knoxville, Nashville, Greeneville, Morristown and Clarksville.

The bank has been a FDIC member since 1934 (FDIC Certificate # 895).

Thanks to the reader who emailed me info on this deal, and credit to MyBankTracker for this find.

"I have reviewed your online application and unfortunately I was unable to approve your online application for a new account because of the # of recent inquiries to financial institutions over the last 12 months."

Since they were able to see that I had been inquiring at numerous financial institutions I would assume it would have to be a hard pull.

If anyone knows for sure one way or another please post and better luck to everyone else!

They might pull a ChexSystems report. I've had banks pull that and say I've opened too many checking accounts in the last year. Go to the ChexSystems website and you can request a copy of your report for free since you've now been denied a checking account.

Ok, I went ahead and applied to see if I can take advantage of this promotion. Below is what I saw towards the end of the application process so it appears they pull BOTH ChexSystems and your credit report. I think it's just the Experian credit report (it mentioned Experian on the following screen).

By clicking the "I agree" checkbox, you authorize us to verify the information you submitted, to obtain a ChexSystems report and to obtain credit reports concerning you. Upon your request, we will tell you if a report was obtained and give you the name and address of the reporting agency that provided the report. You warrant to us that the information you are submitting is true and correct. By submitting this application, you agree to allow us to receive the information contained in your application, as well as the status of your application.

So a word of advice from recent experience if you do this promotion is make a copy of your signature form. Without it, you won't have your account numger and they won't give it to you through their online message system or over the phone (you have to walk into a branch).

Got my $100 Visa gift card voucher in the mail yesterday and sent it off today. Hopefully the "Awards Department" will process it quickly for the holidays.
