Top Long-Term CD and IRA CD Rates Continue at Police and Fire FCU - PA Only

Police and Fire FCU (PFFCU) continues to offer a 3.25% APY 5-year CD and IRA CD. Other top long-term rates include a 2.75% APY 4-year CD and a 2.25% APY 3-year CD. These rates are listed in the credit union's certificates rates page as of 11/04/2010.

As a comparison with internet banks, the best 5-year CD rate is currently 2.75% APY at Sallie Mae Bank and the best 3-year CD rate is currently 2.25% APY at iGObanking.com.

PFFCU has a good refer-a-family-member deal. You can make $25 per family member who joins (up to $75) and the family member can make up to $50 for opening the savings and checking account. Additional money can be made for a credit card and for refinancing loans. This offer ends on 12/31/2010.

As I mentioned in July the credit union made it tougher to join if you're not a resident of Pennsylvania. To qualify for membership, you have to belong to one of the credit union's member groups. One group on the list is Weavers Way Cooperative Association which is open to anyone. However, PFFCU placed an additional requirement during the summer.
