Horizon Credit Union increased its 5-year CD yield this week to 2.22%. Minimum deposit is $1,000. The credit union also has a special 35-month CD with a 1.51% APY, but this requires a $10K minimum deposit along with a checking account and direct deposit. Its other CD rates are much lower. I last reported on this credit union in August when it was offering a hot 18-month CD special. That special has ended. While this CD special was available, several readers reported being able to join the credit union and open the CD special. One said he was able to do everything over the internet.
