Chase Savings Account Fee Charged Incorrectly
Chase Manhattan Bank (0 stars) - DetailsIn December 2011, Chase started charging a monthly service fee on its savings account. The fee is waived if you maintain an average daily balance of at least $300 or you have a recurring monthly deposit of at least $25.
I use the recurring monthly deposit method and was surprised to see a $4 fee charged this month. The CSR who answered my call initially insisted it was due to my not meeting the above requirements, until I pointed out the recurring monthly deposit which has been in place since December 2011. His next guess was to mention that it was because it was a preauthorized transfer set up online. Well yes indeed, I pointed out, recurring from my Chase checking account and not set up through a CSR.
At that point he reversed the fee as a system error.
If you have a Chase savings account and use a recurring monthly deposit to waive charges, make sure you have not been charged a service fee in error.
