JPMorgan In Talks To Settle Government Case For $11 Billion

Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - 6:07 PMJPMorgan Chase Bank, Dearborn - Details
Beleaguered megabank JPMorgan Chase is in talks to hand state and federal authorities $11 billion to resolve investigations into its sale of mortgage securities, a person familiar with the talks said late Wednesday.

That whopping amount is the just latest figure bandied about between government authorities and the nation’s largest bank. It far exceeds the Justice Department’s largest single company settlement on record — a $3 billion deal with GlaxoSmithKline in 2011.
