Allegiance Credit Union (OK) 12-Month CD Is A Rate Leader
Earlier this year, I wrote about the longer-term (24-, 36-, and 48-month) CDs in Allegiance Credit Union’s (ACU) product line; those competitive rates are still in effect. With ACU CD rates holding steady for the past eight months, the 12-month CD (0.96% APY, $100k min) has become more competitive as other 1-year CD rates have dropped. All ACU CDs have tiered APYs based on deposit levels of $500, $10k, $50k, and $100k, with the $100k level rates offering the best “bang for the bucks.”
The 12-month CD is also available as an IRA CD (Traditional, Roth, CESA), earning the same tiered APYs based on the same deposit levels.
According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty for the 12-month CD is three months of dividends (earned or not), with partial withdrawals allowed.
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Allegiance Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency-based, with individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Oklahoma counties of Canadian, Cleveland, Logan, McClain, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie, qualify for membership. These six counties comprise the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Any active employee of the federal government whose post of duty is in Oklahoma, including members of the Oklahoma National Guard, retirees, and un-remarried widows or widowers, are also eligible to join. Employees of Southwestern Oklahoma State University also qualify for membership.
Immediate family members of current ACU members also qualify. “Immediate family member” is defined by ACU as “the member's spouse, parents of the spouse, the member's parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and the member's brothers and sisters.”
Joining ACU and/or opening a CD can be done online or at any of four Oklahoma branches, located in Edmond and Oklahoma City (3).
We’d love to see you any way we can!
Call, chat or visit us via video or in person by booking an appointment today.
Unfortunately, the “Book An Appointment” link on all the individual branch location pages is broken, so scheduling an appointment online is not possible. CSR suggested just calling the branch directly.
To open your Primary Savings Account, a $5 minimum deposit will be required. Please note, a $5 balance must be maintained in order to fulfill your membership status requirement.
ACU participates in the CO-OP Shared Branch network, providing members with access to more than 5,600 shared branches. ACU members can also access surcharge-free ATMs at all TransFund locations.

Please refer to our financial overview of Allegiance Credit Union (NCUA Charter # 63250) for more details.
Allegiance Credit Union is currently the eleventh largest credit union headquartered in Oklahoma, with more than 25,000 members and assets in excess in $325 million. Established in 1963 as Federal Employees Credit Union, the original branch was homed in the basement of the Federal Courthouse in Oklahoma City.
In 1977, we moved into the new Alfred P. Murrah Federal building to serve the employees that worked there. Over the years we grew to 33 employees with assets of $76 million and we served over 15,000 members worldwide from that one office.
On April 19, 1995, everything changed. Shortly after 9:00 am, Oklahoma City experienced a brutal act of terrorism when a blast erupted and laid waste to the structure, and shook the countryside for miles. 168 people lost their lives, over 100 of them were our members.
Eighteen employees, a board member, and a credit committee member died in the blast. Five surviving employees were not in the building at the time. Ten other credit union survivors were in the building — some escaped with cuts and bruises, while others were taken to the hospital. Some of the remaining survivors were too traumatized to return to work.
We have not forgotten our past and the friends we lost on that tragic day in April of 1995.
How the CD Compare
When compared to the similar length of term CDs tracked by DepositAccounts.com that are available within the FOM, Allegiance Credit Union’s 12-month CD APY currently ranks first, regardless of minimum deposit requirements.
The above information and rates are accurate as of 5/14/2021.
