POSTED ON BY

Update 6/26/2012: The promotion is now available until July 31, 2012. Also, the direct deposit now requires a $150 minimum.

The seven banking divisions of BOK Financial Corporation are offering a cash bonus for opening a new checking account. Four of the divisions are offering a $100 bonus, and the other three are offering a $50 bonus. To qualify for the bonus, the customer must either activate direct deposit OR make 10 debit card purchases ($10 minimum per transaction). The promotion is scheduled to end on May 31, 2012. Below are the links to the promotion pages of the seven divisions:

  • $100 bonus at Bank of Texas (free checking)
  • $100 bonus at Colorado State Bank and Trust (free checking)
  • $100 bonus at Bank of Arizona (free checking)
  • $100 bonus at Bank of Kansas City (free checking)
  • $50 bonus at Bank of Arkansas(free checking)
  • $50 bonus at Bank of Oklahoma
  • $50 bonus at Bank of Albuquerque

Below is the small print of the $100 offers:

The $100 offer is valid for personal checking accounts opened on April 2, 2012 through May 31, 2012. Offer is not available on account conversions and is limited to new personal checking account households only. $50 minimum opening deposit balance is required. The bonus will not be considered part of the minimum opening deposit. The bonus cash is considered interest and is reportable on IRS Form 1099-INT. Checking account must remain open for a minimum of six (6) months or the $100 will be debited from the account during the closing transaction. Limit one (1) per household. Regarding the direct deposit requirement, to qualify for the offer, your first recurring direct deposit such as Social Security, Pension or Payroll must be completed within sixty (60) calendar days of your account opening date. Eligible Debit Card transactions must be at least $10.00 per transaction. ATM transactions, such as withdrawals, deposits or transfer are not eligible. The ten (10) eligible Debit Card transactions must be posted to your account within sixty (60) calendar days of your account opening date. We reserve the right to disqualify Debit Card transactions in circumstances where we reasonably believe they were not made in good faith. The $100 will be automatically deposited six (6) weeks after the conditions noted above have been met provided the account is in good standing.

For most of these divisions, customers can qualify with a free checking account. Two of the divisions that are offering $50 bonuses require Choice Checking which isn't a free checking account. To avoid a monthly fee customers must either have a total of $300 or more in monthly direct deposits or maintain a $1,400 average monthly collected balance or maintain a $5,000 average monthly collected balance in combined deposit balances.

Each promo page has an online application link. In the past I've been told a branch visit may still be required to complete the checking application process. To see if they have a branch near you, please refer to our BOKF branch map.
