BCU (formerly known as Baxter Credit Union) is offering an 11-month CD Special (1.65% APY), now through December 31, 2017. The minimum deposit is $500 of new money (defined as “money not on deposit with BCU at or within 90 days prior to account opening"), with no stated balance cap.
While BCU does offer an additional 25 bps on its CDs and IRA CDs through its Rewards Rate program, the 11-month CD Special does not qualify.
As stated in the Deposit Account Agreement, the Early Withdrawal Penalty reads as follows:
The amount of the penalty is 30 days dividends on the
amount withdrawn if the account term is one year or less.
Money Market Accounts
BCU is also running a Money Market Special that guarantees 1.25% APY on balances of $15k+ through December 31, 2018. The minimum opening deposit is $15k of new money. Although the 1.25% APY is guaranteed for the next 14 months, the offer expires on December 31, 2017.

The Investors Money Market, which requires a minimum opening deposit of $100k of new money, has a guaranteed 1.40% APY through December 31, 2018. A minimum of $50k “in assets under management with BCU Investment Advisors and/or Wealth Advisors” is required to qualify for the 1.40% APY. Like the Money Market Special, this offer expires on December 31, 2017.
Headquartered in Vernon Hills, Illinois, BCU’s field of membership (FOM) is open to those who live or work in the Illinois counties of DuPage, Kane, Lake, or McHenry, or Kenosha County, Wisconsin. In addition, those who live or work in portions of Cook County (north of 95th) are eligible for membership.
Employees of 89 SEGs also qualify for membership. A complete list of the SEGs is available on the first page of BCU’s online Membership Application, which is time sensitive and closes after a few minutes of inactivity.
All family members (blood, marriage, fostering, or adoption) and domestic partners (residing in the same household) of current BCU members are eligible to join.

While checking and savings accounts can be opened online, opening a CD or one of the Money Market accounts can only be done in-branch or by calling 800.388.7000.
