Bellwether Community Credit Union (NH) Adds Three CD Specials

Availability: Residents of New Hampshire; employees of the communications industry who work in Maine, Massachusetts, or Vermont.

Earlier this month, Bellwether Community Credit Union (BCCU) added three Share Certificate Specials that have the option for bonus rates, based on a Loyalty Rewards Checking relationship.

Credit unions usually quote the base rates for this type of CD, with the fine print detailing the potential bonuses. BCCU has chosen to promote their Share Certificate Specials in a different fashion.

Certificate rates quoted above are for members with Platinum Level Loyalty Rewards Checking, and include a .20% bonus added to the base rate. Members with Gold Level Loyalty Rewards Checking receive a .10% bonus added to the base rate, and Silver Level Loyalty Rewards Checking receives a .05% bonus added to the base rate. To determine the base rate, deduct .20% from the above quoted rates.

Qualifying for the additional Loyalty Rewards bonus rates requires opening a Loyalty Checking account, with the various levels determined as follows:

Silver Loyalty Level requires either a combined balance, of deposit and outstanding VISA and loan balances, of $300 OR by signing up for eStatements.

Gold Loyalty Level can be maintained by enrolling in at least two convenience services (Bill Pay, Direct Deposit, or eStatements) or by maintaining a combined balance of $5,000 or more.

Platinum Loyalty Level requires combined balances of $25,000 or more.

Note: Opening a Share Certificate with a deposit of $25k+ automatically qualifies for the highest APYs, as long as a Loyalty Checking account is opened and maintained throughout the term of the Share Certificate.

All three Share Certificate Specials are also available as IRAs (Traditional), earning the same APYs with the same funding requirements.

According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty for the 9-month Share Certificate Special is three months and six months for the 13- and 22-month Share Certificate Specials.

Headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, Bellwether Community Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency based, with individuals who live or work in New Hampshire eligible to join.

Anyone who is an employee in the communications industry who works in Maine, Massachusetts, or Vermont qualify for membership.

Immediate and extended family members of a current BCCU member can join, regardless of residency status.

Joining BCCU can be done online, or in person at any of three New Hampshire branches located in Bedford, Manchester, and Nashua. Opening a Share Certificate Special requires a visit one of the three branches.
