I've had very positive experiences with Cal Coast Credit Union, since switching from a global bank. I use their checking and savings accounts, as well as some other services from time to time. Enrolling was easy, and there was a slight cash bonus. One nice service is that they offer one free cashiers check a day, so if you aren't a heavy check user you won't even need to buy checks. The online interface to access your accounts is a bit outdated but is perfectly usable, has all the information you need, and seems secure, with two factor authentication. I've used the online interface to transfer between my accounts many times without any issue. They also have an e-statements program that you can use if you prefer to be able to look at all your statements online.
Only 5 of their 27 branches can be used for Credit Union CO-OP Shared Branch Network transactions, even if you are a member. The other 22 branches will turn you away. The 5 shared-branch locations are:

I was under the impression a credit union would help me build credit. I started the credit union with a 740 Fico credit score I had built on my own. I am a full time student studying at SDSU. I was denied my first car loan due to owning my own business and no tax paperwork, which I understand. A year later I applied for a loan after working 3 part time jobs. Now with a valid income and direct deposits in my account each month I was denied again. This has become a discrimination issue. I have the Proof of income that is deposited every month straight from my employers!!! After being denied for the amount I am asking twice. I will never be going through a credit union. I would rather pay a higher apr than talk to the incompetent employees like Cindy and Joshua who work there. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was put on hold. Take your business elsewhere!!
