Back in 2012 I opened up a certificate of deposit with Credit Union of America. They had a great interest rate for saving with their bank. I recently withdrew my funds because the account matured. Overall I am very happy with this credit union and would recommend it to anyone in the central point of America. It's only available in the mid west on the united states.
This is my second time banking with the Credit Union Of America. I only left the first time because I moved out of town and they didn't have services in my new home. As soon as I moved back I reopened an account with them. I have never had one issue with my checking or savings account. I'm not a rich man so my interest rates don't pay out as much as they do for a lot of folks, but they are consistent. I feel like they have my best interests in mind. For example, I had a bill change in amount recently that was set to auto-withdraw. It accidentally overdrafted my account. Speaking with them on the phone they were very helpful and erased the overdraft fee. It makes me feel like a welcome member rather than just another person who banks with them. Knowing that they care about my financial well being and my credit moving forward keeps me loyal and very happy with them.
I had previously banked with Capitol Federal and decided to switch to credit union of america after the bank started charging us fees for things we were never told about. I had heard good things about credit union of america, like that they had good interest rates for checking and savings accounts and no fees for use. This is true, and we have been very satisfied. We don't have to keep a minimum balance in our checking account, and we are allowed to have multiple savings that it is easy to transfer money between. Overdraft fees are very reasonable and uncommon because they will automatically pull from savings if we need it. There are no transfer fees. All of the people who work for the credit union are courteous and helpful and willing to take the time to explain things if i have questions. Their certificate of deposit accounts have good rates and great convenient terms.
I have a car loan with this bank at Central and Woodlawn and was harassed over 9 cents. I was sent emails that my 9 cents balance was delinquent over 10 days. I deposited 826.00 and I told the teller to pay 181 on the car she said its 181.09 I said pay it all please. I deposited 826.00 that day. Why would I not want to pay 9 cents? What the hell can you do with 9 cents in 2023? I was sent emails and harassed over pennies. Woe to you who get a mortgage with this company or have a actual car payment that is behind. I was sent emails to resolve a matter I did not cause. I am angry, I am dissapointed and I will not be doing business with this bank in the future. I would say the word for this was PETTY. This is not FRIENDLY treatment.
Tried to switch my banking over to CU of A at the Salina branch and the loan officer kept cutting us off in mid sentence saying "you have a good day mmmmmmmmkayyyyyy". Would not answer any of our questions and basically acted like we were bothering him. We left and opened accounts across the street.
