Heartland Credit Union Adds 15-Month CD Special, 2.40% APY
Now through November 30, 2019, Heartland Credit Union (Heartland) is offering a 15-month CD Special, which earns 2.40% APY. The minimum opening deposit is $10k of new money, with no stated balance cap. According to the fine print on the Savings Rates page, this offer is subject to change.
Heartland CDs come with a one-time bump option.
If rates go up during your term we’ll let you increase your rate one time by adding $1,000 to your certificate. Your maturity date will remain the same and you will earn the higher rate for the remaining certificate term.
According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is six months of dividends, with only one early withdrawal permitted.
There is a 10-day grace period before the 15-month CD Special automatically renews as a 12-month CD.
Availability
Headquartered in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Heartland Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is residency based, with individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Minnesota counties of Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Le Suer, Scott, Ramsey, Rice, or Washington, eligible to join.
Employees/retirees of 11 Employer Groups also qualify for membership.
Family members and household members of current Heartland are welcome to apply. Family generously includes “spouse, parents, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc.”
Joining Heartland and/or opening a CD Special can be done at any of the four Minnesota branches, located in Arden Hills, Inver Grove Heights (2), and Prague. Heartland’s Membership Application is available as a download, and can be returned either in person or by mail.
$5 minimum deposit is required to open your Heartland Share
Savings Account – which gives you ownership in the credit union.
Heartland participates in the MoneyPass Network (33,000+ surcharge-free ATMs) and in the CO-OP Shared Branching and ATM networks.

Established in 1939 as the Farmers Union Employees’ Credit Union, the founding members were seven farmers who each bought one share for $5. (FYI – $5 in 1939 is the equivalent of approximately $90 today.) Between 1997 and 2017, Heartland experience three mergers, two FOM expansions, and a name change. A few of Heartland’s 2018 financial highlights include 989 new accounts opened, total member’s equity increased by $729k, and net income of $850,336.
