I've been banking with Inspirus credit union for many years now, and I've been pretty satisfied with them. They are definitely not the most innovative credit union out there, but they are stable and have low fees. They are a bit behind the times when it comes to their online presence, however. The website design is counterintuitive and it lacks some features that other banks consider standard. There's no budgeting tool, for example. Things are not organized well and certain features direct you to a third party website that is affiliated with the bank. Doing an external transfer requires you to visit another company's website. And don't get me started on the mobile app. It's ugly, slow, and won't even let you view transaction details within it. If you try to even view a list of your recent transactions it gives you a message that you must login on a desktop to continue. What's with that?
I've been using SECUWA for many years now. My mother used to work for a school district, so I was able to get an account that way. They are a pretty standard credit union in a lot of respects, and offer all the same services you can expect of most banks. The one thing that makes them stand out, at least to me, is their customer service. Every time I call there is usually no hold time, and a person picks up almost immediately. They are always able to solve my issue right away. I currently have a savings account here, and the interest rate is competitive. It's a good place to park my money while I wait to do other things with it. Their mobile app is decent. When they first released it a few years ago it had a lot missing, but over the years it's gotten much better. They allow you to move money between internal and external accounts, call them with the press of a button, among other things. Their website is also quite good, having evolved just as well over the years. The focus they've put into improving their mobile and website experience is a reflection of the fact they have no physical branches, so keep that in mind. But it's totally possible to do all your banking with this company without a physical branch. They even have a huge network of ATM's where you can make deposits and withdraw money for no fee. You can even deposit with the mobile app now. Over all, I would say this is a great credit union, but quite restrictive because you must be a school employee or relative in order to open an account.
We've been using this credit union for about 8 years, and we just love it. The staff are friendly and helpful. We love that it's a small credit union because the service feels very personal. We've taken out a few loans, and they were so helpful and encouraging to us.
I also like the products they provide: savings accounts for my children, mobile deposit, easy & quick transfer of funds, etc. I do wish there wasn't a fee to exceed a certain number of transfers per month. I don't understand why they would charge such a fee.
They also let us open "savings envelopes" to keep track of specific savings. I wish this feature were available online instead of having to go in to the office, but I really enjoy the feature nonetheless. This has helped us to isolate funds for various savings goals.
