I just spoke with a CSR and was told you have to come into the branch with you paperwork to open the account, so be careful.  I asked her to double check and call me back with clarification, but as of now, no call back.  If anyone has success opening and funding online, please post.  UPDATE - I called back and got someone at another branch.  They said you COULD open and fund online after you get all of your identification verified.  Both CSR's sounded a little unsure.  I will proceed cautiously, and post if I have any problems.  It sure isn't easy these days!

I live in the area and bank here. This is a very small bank. Even if some people get the account opened remotely, the bank is not staffed to handle a nationwide onslaught of applications and will almost certainly reconsider the decision.

Indeed.  After my last post, the original CSR called me back to say she checked with the supervisor, and they would not be able to open the account unless I came into one of their 3 branches in person.
