Chartered in 1954, Pioneer Federal Credit Union was originally known as the Civilian Employees Federal Credit Union, but the name was soon changed to Mountain Home Air Force Base Federal Credit Union to better represent the membership. As further FOM expansion included more community members, a new name was needed that accurately described the community. "Pioneer" was chosen, as Mountain Home was originally the Post Office at Rattlesnake Station, a stagecoach stop on the Overland Stage Line. Today, PFCU is Idaho’s fifth largest credit union, serving nearly 51,000 members and holding assets in excess of $441 million.
