This bank is in Texas where people are naturally happy, friendly and helpful. I say this as someone who grew up in the Bronx, NY. The personnel at Plains Capital Bank exhibit these characteristics in spades. The tellers and bank officials recognize me, smile and say hello whenever I go to my branch. I have checking and saving accounts plus CD's with this bank. The service I receive in managing these accounts is always efficient and conducted in a pleasant manner. The facility is modern and well kept up. There is even a Buffalo head on the wall (a buffalo is part of Plains Capitals logo). Whenever I go to the bank to conduct business there is plenty of room in the parking lot and minimal line waits inside. The employees usually recognize me, smile and say hello even when I am not conducting business with them specifically. The hours are convenient and there is a motor bank and ATM outside for off hours use.
The website is well designed and easy to use. I can electronically pay bills and transfer money between accounts. I am able to monitor balances and transactions. I can create ACH links to my external accounts for payments and withdrawals. In effect I can almost do all my banking from home except when I receive a paper check or need cash. However I still like to visit the bank on occasion to see the buffalo and say high to the people.
Several years ago, I moved my retirement account to First National Bank in Garland. They were taken over a couple of years ago by the FDIC and I presume sold to Plains. I chose FNB because of geographic convenience. Plains closed all the branches except one 50 miles from me. I really haven't had any issues but would not be my first choice for other accounts because of distance.
