Do not back with Eastman Credit Union, I have had a saving account for many years and I just reopened a checking account and I tried to make a deposit in the ATM. They will not allow you to deposit anything in the ATM until after 6 months!!! Hope FU'ed is that!!! I have a credit score so high that it can not go any higher and they just transferred huge amounts of money over to them. They just lost a customer!
Don't bother with this Credit Union. My account was locked today, after having to hold their hands in making a payment earlier today. Of course, there is no one to help after hours. And since I live in Nashville I'm an hour behind. A good institution would actually call their members for a fraud alert, Eastman locks your account and goes home... Oh and the added protection of chip cards? Too expensive for them... They'd rather not comply with Federal Laws.. There are far better choices than this place. I got a message from a facebook monitor saying "sorry" and how happy they were to help.... Tomorrow, when it's convenient for them. Ever been to Kingsport? ECU just built a brand new Mega Castle to show off their small "stature"...
I'm not going to sit here and write a big review... all I'm going to say is that this bank has taken hundreds of dollars from me. So I'm not pleased at all and I'm going elsewhere !!!
And quite frankly they don't deserve one star but I have to give it so I can submit this review
I've used Eastman Credit Union for many years now, I have a checking and savings account currently. I have had CDs in the past with them that had good interest rates and were very easy to setup. I have never had a negative experience with them that I can remember, either online or in person. Direct deposit usually comes earlier than other banks and they also allow you to deposit checks into an ATM and instantly access the funds. It also has a very local feel and the employees learn your name quite quickly even if don't go into the physical branch very often, and I haven't experienced aggressive up sell of other services with them either. Overall I would highly recommend them if they are in your area, and they pay out a yearly dividend to all account holders.
I am so very pleased with the professionalism and the quality of services that I again just received. I went in a branch and the teller saw my debit/ credit card had been flagged. He went on to tell me my card has been compromised because I had used it at a Wendy's and their computer systems had benn hacked, back in Dec 2016! But Wendy's did not tell ECU until Oct of 2016! And then ECU took it upon themselves to go internally and flag ALL accounts that had purchased anything at a Wendy's thus my account was flagged. I was told I received a letter but I don't always open all my mail thus this will change, for it was a random check cashing that brought me into the branch. The second course of action the ECU would disabled my card to further protect me. Thank you for going this extra step to protect my assets.
Can not call to check balance or use there app sucks all other places had before let's you call right up check you're account balance not this place and what's worse friend told me of app an number I could use to check my balance non work says pin incorrect an it's not same I use at atm really disappointed can not check my balance have to travel all way to bank when there open just to do so soon as I can will switch banks
They held my money for a solid week without even showing a pending deposit for my online account. I thought I was all paid up with a good balance this morning, when I just checked my account it shows I am negative a few hundred dollars PLUS a $50.00 overdraft fee. WE HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO PUT OVER DRAFT PROTECTION ON OUR ACCOUNT and was told it was on there and we were good to go! NOT!!! Not only did I not show any pending balances, but the transaction that went negative did not even show up on my overview. These people will do anything for a quick buck! I am finding a new bank and telling them to shove it!!!
It feels to me the people I've dealt with from the bank are incompetent and not willing to act very sensibly.. If I send an email at six thirty in the morning it seems unreasonable to not hear back until 6:30 in the evening on several occasions.. It also feels unreasonable to me that if I sent something in a month ago to still be questioned on it today... Maybe it's just me...
While the online banking is definitely not as accurate as others I have seen, Eastman Credit Union is not a bad place to bank. Rates are competitive, checking is free, and if you have a problem, it can usually be fixed with a phone call.
The bank is very helpful. When I needed a loan for a new heat pump, they were able to lay down all my options, and save me a lot of money over my rush decision to get a home equity loan.
The online banking just changed a week ago, so I'm anxious to see if it is more "real time"...
I belonged to the same credit union for over 8 years and the one before that for over 10 years and have never overdrafted. We are avid users of online banking. We switched for location purposes to ECU on a trial basis a couple of months ago. BIG MISTAKE! Their so called "Real Time" checking account was not explained to us when we opened the account. No brochure or materials were given to us explaining how they post things to their checking accounts. Their online banking is useless. It shows nothing actual and does not agree with what a teller sees on their computer system. The other day I had one balance on online banking. 1 hour later I made a deposit and the slip showed another balance which did not correspond. Then 1 hour later my account showed yet another number. Impossible to keep up with because you can't see everything! A business over-charged our debit card by $1,000 and we did not know it. All we could see was a big difference in balance and available balance on online banking. I had to go to a branch to find out exactly what it was. They said it was corrected by the business immediately. So why put a hold on our account for the mistake amount? It never showed up on online banking or on our statement later. I asked to speak with a branch manager and was told I had to make an appointment!! I called what I thought was a branch and got a customer service center. When I tried to get someone to explain how their posting system worked, I couldn't get a straight answer. Not sure the CSR understood it either. She proceeded to hang up on me. ECU has forgotten it is supposed to be a local credit union, not a large national bank who does not want to serve customers, just take their money - the reason we have always used credit unions instead of banks!
I must say that the quality of service does not even rank a full star. I have been told so many different stories from this bank about my account it is ridiculous. The safeguards in place to protect individual accounts from theft are miniscule. Why have signature cards if the bank does not pay attention to them when they are cashing checks? Needless to say, I am changing accounts immediately.
