I had to add my review to counter other reviews listed, as I truly love banking with these people. I have banked here for many years and found them to thoroughly honest, professional, friendly and very helpful.
I was scammed by a New York company and they stuck with me for over 6 months working with Visa to help straighten it out and get my money back. Friday I took advantage of their current CD special; 16 mo. 1.5%. They allow up to $25,000 for their high interest checking account (1.25 %). They are extremely thorough with security, much more so than others I have experienced. UFCU rocks!
My local United Federal Credit Union has been very helpful with my needs. I have both a checking and a savings account with them and I have for about ten years. I have never had to pay any fees associated with these accounts which has been very nice. Additionally, the building is clean and beautiful and the staff are friendly. I have gone to them with many different questions and they have always been helpful. There is also at times a promotion to open a new account with the credit union so I have referred my friends to this place as well. The staff are amazing and friendly and knowledgeable. When I was younger I took advantage of their youth savings account which offered a higher interest rate for young patrons. When I lost my debit card they replaced it, free of charge. Overall I have been very pleased with my experience with this credit union. I would highly recommend.
I am looking at switching CUs, so this one has some decent rates. So i filled out all the apps and sent them picture of my DL. They told me i needed to unfreeze my credit reports to open an account. This means they will do a hard pull. I have never had a bank or CU that needed to do a hard pull. I opened a savings at live oak last month with no problems. I will never unfreeze my credit reports just to open an account. I even offered to show up in person with my DL and SS card, but nobody has responded.
Beware of "FORCED INSURANCE" .. look it up! 10 times the normal rate and they are teamed up with the insurance company. One person passes you off to the other. Do not return calls and apply these high rates to your loan AND THEN CHARGE YOU INTEREST!! They do not tell you this! Their scamming type wording in your loan agreement cover them. DO NOT USE THIS BANK EVER!!! TOTAL SCAM FEES!! EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE AND RUDE!
UFCU is horrific. Every time you call you will receive a different answer. the staff is rude and unprofessional. As the mistakes on their side pile up, the attitude and rudeness increase.
I closed my account with ufcu when I was 21, they failed to close my account and an autopay bill had it overdrafted basically one hundred dollars. This put me in a system called Chex Systems making it impossible for me to open a bank account.
Four years later and Im still trying to pay this bill. First they told me it was sent to collections. I spent two years trying to find it within different collection agencies they would send me to. Finally I paid nearly three hundred dollars for a debt finder to locate the bill and was told that It never left the branch and was never sent to collections in the first place. Then I began calling UFCU and have not stopped. Every time I have called they have told me to pay the bill a different, more time consuming way. Today I called after being instructed to have a friend or family member pay the bill with their routing number(As I don't have a checking account because of chex systems), when I called with my friend to pay the bill, I was instructed to mail the bill to michigan and told the person who I had just spoken to was incorrect. Now I am going to mail a money order to this hellhole and I am beyond sure, I will never see that bill paid, they will lose my bill and act like I never sent it.
Over the four years I have been screamed at, told to shutup, and continuously told I am the one who is confused. Customer service simply does not exist with these people. It was has been one of the most tumultuous experiences of my life. This place is a horrendous joke. My fingers are crossed so hard that I can finally be rid of this chapter of my life.
