$125 Chase Checking Account Bonus - Update

Update 1/14/2011: There's a new $125 bonus with a 2/15/2011 expiration date.

There's another $125 bonus for a Chase checking account with direct deposit. The promo page allows you to apply online or at a branch. Like the last one, you have to be logged into your Chase account (credit card or bank account) to see it. Also be aware that these promo pages often expire before the expiration date.

$125 Chase promotion page - 2/15/2011 expiration - Must be logged in to see

Here are the steps listed to receive the bonus:

1. Print this page and take it to your local Chase Branch or apply online by February 15, 2011.
2. Open a Chase Checking account and set up direct deposit.
3. We'll deposit $125 into your new Chase Checking account within 10 days of your initial direct deposit posting.

And here is the small print listed in the promo page:

Bonus/Account Information - To qualify for the bonus you must open a new Chase Checking account with a $100 minimum opening deposit of new money (money not currently held by Chase or its affiliates). Also, within 60 calendar days of account opening, we must receive from your employer or the government a monthly electronic direct deposit of your payroll, pension or government benefits, such as Social Security. The bonus will be deposited into your new account within 10 business days after the initial direct deposit has posted to your account. Limit one personal checking account-related bonus/premium per customer, per calendar year. Offer not available on account conversions or in combination with any other offer. bonus is not considered part of the minimum opening balance. Checking account must remain open for a minimum of six months or the bonus will be debited from the account at closing. Account is subject to approval. bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT.
Chase Checking Offer - Is only available to new checking customers who do not have an existing Chase checking account.

Note that you must not have a Chase checking account, and it must be at least one calendar year since your last Chase checking account bonus. Readers have reported that Chase considers a calendar year to be 12 months ago, not just last December.

Credit for this find goes this SD Thread. Note, some SD members have reported getting the message from the application that their coupon code couldn't be used with their account. So your miles may vary.

Also, thanks to reader frugalmom who mentioned this $125 promotion and her experience with Chase in this DepositAccounts.com forum thread. She also noted that you may be able to get a $125 coupon code in the change of address package at you local post office. If you have experience with Chase, please consider posting it to our Bank and Credit Union Reviews forum (you may win up to $250 in our sweepstakes).

Chase still has a $100 promotion that's available that doesn't require direct deposit. For more details about other Chase promotions, Chase branches and issues like hidden fees, please see my previous Chase promotion post.

Deal is not dead - you need a unique promo coupon code.  The code posted in the link here has already been used.  I keep getting these codes in my Chase credit card statements.  I used one and got signed up no problem.  I have another one laying around if anyone needs it - email me.

Your link is DEAD as of today. Google has the offer for Chase Checking.

Why do they state "Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers"; but, later, they say"Limit one checking account-related reward/premium per customer, per calendar year. Offer not available on account conversions or in combination with any other offer"? Can I or can't I oopen a new Chase Checking once per calendar year?

I couldn't find this deal, but Chase still has a $100 bonus for opening a new checking account. You can not be a current Chase customer. You have to have a re-curring direct deposit OR use a debit card 5 times. Within 10 days of meeting either requirement they will deposit $100 into your new account. I closed my old Chase account about 60 days ago and was eligible for this offer. Offer ends 6/30/10.

Can you please send me a promotional code for this?  With the code, what should I do next to sign up for this $125 bonus?

I think if you open a checking account and then open a savings account you can forgo the monthly service charge and the monthly debit card transactions.

I did this with a $100 free checking promo 9 months ago, then later I got a flyer in the mail that had a $25 dollar promo for opening a savings account with $500 or more.  This is how I discovered how to forgo the standard stipulations for holding a free checking account.

I believe Chase did not mention this option in their promo small print.

I just wondered if this also may be true for other non ACH/ DD bank promos out there.

Of course what I originally liked about Chase is their ATM's in a major pharamacy store.  It can be quite useful not having to pay foreign ATM fees when one is stuck in a tight spot.
