iPod Video / Shuffle Bonus at a Washington State CU

POSTED ON BY

Harborstone Credit Union has an Apple iPod special for new members. New members can receive a free iPod shuffle by opening a savings account and checking account with direct deposit. To receive a free 30GB iPod Video, you must open a savings account and a loan of $10K or more.

Here are some important parts of the small print:
Loans must be booked within 14 days of application to qualify for new member premium. New members that open a savings, checking, direct deposit, and a loan of $10,000 or more are eligible for both the free iPod shuffle and the free 30GB iPod. Value of new member premiums will be reflected on a 1099-INT at year-end. $25 minimum opening deposit required for savings and to maintain membership privileges. Annual percentage yield for savings as of May 1, 2006 is .50% APY and is subject to change. $25 minimum opening deposit required for checking account. Membership fee of $5 will be waived. All new account and loan approvals are subject to Harborstone Credit Union policies. Accounts must remain open 6 months to be eligible for new member premium.

Apple iPod Video 30GB ranges from $220 to $320 on Froogle. Apple iPod shuffle ranges from $50 to $100 on Froogle. The credit union promotion doesn't state whether it's a 512MB or 1GB shuffle.

As you would expect, the requirement for the iPod Video is significant. The rates for auto loans look like they may be competitive with rates as low as 4.74%.

The only thing that may be difficult for the Apple shuffle requirement is direct deposit. You may be able to use ACH electronic funds transfers (ETF) in place of direct deposit. Refer to this FW direct deposit/ACH thread for more info.

The field of membership includes those who live, work or worship in the state of Washington. Also included are retired military personnel, retired civil service employees and employees/members of several other companies and associations.

Branches are located in the following Washington State cities: Tacoma, Bonney Lake, Gig Harbor, Lacey, Spanaway and Puyallup.

Past Free iPod Bank Deals

A couple weeks ago, I did a post on the free iPod nano at TCF Bank. Western Financial Bank still has an iPod shuffle deal (refer to this WFB iPod deal post). Fidelity Bank had a iPod nano deal that ended in late May, however, they've been offering this one every few months, so it might come back (see iPod Fidelity Bank post). Credit card deals are sometimes an easier way to get a free iPod. Refer to this summary of bank iPod Deals post for more info.
