6.25% 13-Month CD at a California CU - IRA (LA Financial)

LA Financial Credit Union is offering a special 6.25% APY 13-month IRA certificate. This rate requires that you open a checking account with $1K minimum. A minimum $1K balance must be maintained for 180 days. Without the checking or the minimum balance requirements, the yield falls to 5.75% APY. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and it must be new money.
My last report on this credit union was in January when they were offering a 5.55% 11 month CD.
Field of membership includes those who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Los Angeles County, California. The credit union has a $5 membership fee, and there's a $5 minimum deposit required for the savings account. A minimum $100 total balance on all savings and loans is required to avoid a $3/month fee (see savings account info).
The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 2024). It has $274.1 million in assets and 36,147 members.
