Central Star Credit Union
Update 2/23/08: The rates have gone down. Please check the institution's website for the latest rates.
Update 2/16/08: The rates have gone down. The 60-month CD now has a yield of 4.75% APY. The title has been changed to reflect this change.

Central Star Credit Union is offering a 5.00% APY 60-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $1,000. Its other terms are also competitive with yields ranging from 4.25% APY for a 12-month term to 4.75% APY for a 48-month term. The 2 and 3 year terms allow for a one-time rate bump. These are also available in an IRA. Please see rate table for more details.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works or does business in Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, McPherson or Saline counties. Please see the credit union's membership page for more details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $50 into the savings account.

My last report on this credit union was in August 2007 when it was offering a 5.5% 12-Month CD.

Branches are located in the Kansas cities of Wichita and Haysville. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 67818). It has $58.1 million in assets and 8,380 members.
