Lone Star Credit Union has some attractive certificate rates. The most competitive rates include a 4.37% APY 24-month CD, a 4.52% APY 36-month CD, a 4.89% APY 48-month CD and a 5.04% APY 60-month CD. The minimum deposit is $500. They also have a good deal on their Jumbo 12-month certificate: 4.11% APY for a $10K minimum and 4.32% APY for a $50K minimum. A rate bump of 0.25% will be applied on any of their CDs for having a money market account or a Heritage checking account. These same rates are also available for IRA certificates.

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works within 10 mile radius of the credit union's main office (7508 Ferguson Road, Dallas, Texas) or in one of the following counties: Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman, Delta, Rains and Hopkins. Branches are located in Dallas, Terrell and Greenville, TX. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68449). It has $73.3 million in assets and 11,800 members.

Sadly, Ben spoke before Congress today and basically said there will be more interest rate cuts.

I read another report today that stated the Fed intends to lower the rate by one full percentage point total throughout 2008. That would bring the Fed Funds Rate down to 2%.

Savers, it's going to get ugly out there.

I just hope that Rewards Checking can stay at 5% (most likely it won't be able to, in my opinion).
