4.01% Reward Checking Account at a Louisiana Bank (Union)

Union Bank is offering a reward checking account called UnionRewards Checking. It pays 4.01% APY on balances up to $25,000 (0.60% for above) and refunds ATM fees if the following monthly requirements are met: 1) 10 check card transactions, 2) one direct deposit or ACH direct charge, 3) receive Electronic statements, and 4) access internet banking. If these are not met, the rate falls to 0.25%. The minimum opening deposit is $50. There are no minimum monthly requirements or monthly service charges.

It appears that a branch visit is required to open the account. Branches are located in the Louisiana cities of Marksville, Alexandria, Bunkie, Hessmer, Pinevlle and Moreauville. The bank is a member FDIC (Certificate # 8800).
