Update on HSBC Checking and Savings Account Bonuses

HSBC has extended the promotions which I first reported on in February. There's a $75 cash bonus for opening its Interest Checking Account, and a $50 or $25 bonus for opening a savings account. These promotions were extended to May 31, 2008.

Note, the savings accounts qualifying for the bonus do not include the HSBC Direct Online Savings Account.

All of the promotion terms appear to be the same as I reported on in February. For the full details, please refer to that February HSBC post. Couple of readers who commented in that post didn't have good luck with previous HSBC promotions, so "your miles may vary". Two years ago I did a similar checking promotion, and I didn't have problems.

Stay away from HSBC!! I never got any of 3 bonus offers and I spent hours over the phone with CSR who promised their boss will call back. Never did!
I stopped by a branch whose manager was unwilling to help! boarders on deceptive advertising and unethical practice.

I signed up for 4 of these HSBC promotions last year.I received only two of them. However, it's easy to get hold of them. With Online Banking, you can send them an e-mail.They responded quickly and deposited the bonus for me within two weeks.

I got two bonuses from them. One went automatic. The other didn't show up until I bank mailed them. You'll always get the bonus as long as you meet the requirements, but you just may have to keep tabs.

Don't stay away from HSBC.

Ive never had any problems with Bonus'es for new money, free Hotel stays or cash. I have been with HSBC for years now and have never had a problem with a bonus being credited.

HSBC is a great Local Bank bar none with HSBC Online Savings AND HSBC Online Payment account combo linked to Countrywide.

Will never switch from HSBC since it is one of the most competitive local offerings in the market.

HSBC's management team is top tier and has direct ties back to India and Infosys. I highly recommend HSBC.

They are the most green bank in the nation in terms of being environmentally friendly.

I do not work for HSBC. I am a very fierce banking customer who will drop and switch banks if better alternatives were available. HSBC is a great bank as of today.

The last $25 hsbc bonus for regular savings w/automated monthly deps from checking was a disaster.
The offshore based reps neither understood nor cared about their own promotions, and repeatedly gave inaccurate, inconsistent and misleading information to me.
I had to spend multiple hours on multiple days getting them to honor their original commitment (that I luckily kept a copy of).
Beware of HSBC promos.
What you see is not always what you get...

Spending multiple hours and multiple days one the phone to HSBC for a 25.00 bonus. If I had wasted so much time for that amount of money I would be ashamed to post it.
