4.10% 9-Month CD at an Arizona Bank (SunBank)

Aug 15, 2008 - 9:28 AM by Ken Tumin

SunBank is offering a yield of 4.10% APY CD for terms of 9 and 12 months. The minimum deposit is $500. Please refer to the bank's rate table for more details.

It appears that a branch visit may be required to open an account. Branches are located in several Arizona cities including Phoenix, Glendale, Lake Havasu, Tucson and Yuma.

SunBank is a fairly new bank that was established in June 2007, and thus it doesn't yet have a rating at BauerFinancial. It is FDIC insured (FDIC Certificate # 58611).

Other High Certificate of Deposit Rates

WaMu still has the best deal for terms around 9 months with its online 8-month CD that has a yield of 4.25% APY. WaMu also has the best one year CD deal with a 4.50% APY. Wachovia is still listing Featured CDs with 9 and 12-month yields of 4.15% and 4.25% APY. For other CD rates, please refer to my weekly CD rate summary.

The 8 month WaMu deal is available in branch, which has the added benefit of letting you increase the amount of the CD, up to your initial deposit. So, if you open a CD for $X, you can add up to $X before the CD matures.
