4.00% 5-Month CD at Hudson City Savings in NY, NJ and NJ

Hudson City Savings Bank has made a slight change to its 4% APY short-term CD. It's now has a 5-month term rather than a 4-month term. The minimum deposit is $500. There are different rate tables for the 3 states, but all seem to have this same rate.

I last posted on Hudson City in October when this special CD had a 4-month term. This special CD has been offered by Hudson since the summer.

It appears a branch visit is required to open an account. Please refer to the bank's branch locator for branch locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The bank has some decent financial ratings for soundness: 5 stars (superior) at BauerFinancial and 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com. Both are based on 6/30/08 data. It has been FDIC insured since 1934 (Certificate # 13074).
