4.14% Reward Checking Account at ACCESSbank in Nebraska - Local Only

Jun 12, 2009 - 8:20 AM by Ken Tumin

ACCESSbank
ACCESSbank is offering a high interest reward checking account called totalACCESS Checking. The account offers the following rates and features if certain monthly requirements are met:
  • 4.14% APY on balances up to $25,000
  • 0.25% base rate up to $25,000 if qualifications are not met
The monthly requirements include:
  • 10 debit card purchases
  • One direct deposit
  • Receive e-statements
Additional rates and features of the account regardless of the monthly requirements include:
  • 1.00% on portion of balance over $25,000
  • Refunds ATM fees in the continental US
  • $100 minimum initial deposit
  • No minimum balance requirement
  • No monthly service charge
  • Free first box of checks
  • Free Online Bill Pay
It appears that this account offers ATM refunds regardless of the monthly requirements. Also, the second tier rate doesn't appear to be based on the monthly requirements. This is different than the average reward checking account.

It appears that a branch visit is required to open an account. It's a small bank with one office in Omaha, Nebraska. It's also a fairly new bank that was established in 2007. It's a member FDIC (FDIC Certificate # 58727).

Thanks to the reader who emailed me info on this reward checking account.
