Arapahoe Credit Union (CO) Ups 60-Month CD

POSTED ON BY

Deal Summary: CDs – 3-5 month (2.10% APY), 6-11 month (2.40% APY), and 60-month (3.40% APY), $100 minimum deposit.

Availability: Easy membership for Colorado residents through Consumers United Association; residents of three Colorado counties; employees/members of more than 65 SEGs.

Arapahoe Credit Union (ACU) recently raised the rates on all its CDs, with the shortest and longest terms offering the most competitive rates. The minimum opening deposit is $100, with no stated balance cap.

The 3-5 month CD APY is currently 10 bps above the top nationwide 3-month rate, and in some sort of coincidental mathematical symmetry, there is 100 bps between the 6-month and 60-month CDs.

The CDs are also offered as IRAs (Traditional and Roth), earning the same APY with the same funding requirements.

In a Live Chat, CSR explained the Early Withdrawal Penalty.

For accounts with a maturity date less than 12 months, the amount
of the early withdrawal penalty for your accounts is 90 days interest.

For accounts with a maturity date of 36 months or longer, the amount
of the early withdrawal penalty for your accounts is 365 days interest.

Headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, Arapahoe Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is open to all Colorado residents through membership in Consumers United Association ($5 membership fee).

Individuals who live, work, or attend school in the Colorado counties of Arapahoe, Douglas, or Jefferson also qualify for membership.

Employees of more than 65 SEGs (including several school systems) are eligible to join.

Immediate family members of current ACU members are also welcome to apply for membership. “Immediate family” is defined in this instance as spouse, parent (step), child (step), sibling, grandparent, and grandchild.

Joining Arapahoe Credit Union* and/or opening a CD can be done online, or at any of three full-service Colorado branches, located in Centennial, Englewood, and Littleton.

*ACU’s online membership application isn’t the most intuitive application I’ve seen and it’s the only place where the FOM details can be found. Consumers United Association (CUA) is listed under the “I am an employee of” option. It’s the last choice and, for some unknown reason, it’s listed as “Arapahoe Community College and Consumers United Association.” (Arapahoe Community College is also listed at the top of the list.) If you plan on joining CUA as a path to ACU eligibility, calling ACU (303.740.7063) for help before you start the online application might be helpful.

ACU participates in the CO-OP Shared Branch network, giving its members access to nearly 30,000 ATMs and more than 5,000 share branches.
